What is it?
LaserAgTM is an in-house technology that samples and analyzes soils, plants and fodder in a faster and more environmentally friendly way than traditional methods. This cutting-edge technology was developed in collaboration with the INO research center, the Computer Research Institute of Montréal and the National Research Council Canada.
LaserAgTM consists of three interrelated modules:
1. LaserAgTM Partner is a desktop software that coordinates all your sampling and monitoring activities, including:
2. LaserAgTM Sampler is a GPS-enabled mobile application that guides your sampling in the field. LaserAgTM Sampler communicates with LaserAgTM Partner, which facilitates follow-ups.
3. LaserAgTM Quantum is a laboratory equipment that analyzes your samples thanks to a technology developed in the mining world: laser-induced plasma spectroscopy (LIBS). In just a few minutes, this instrument provides information on a multitude of soil parameters, including:
LaserAgTM Quantum is completing its certification with the Centre d’expertise en analyse environnementale du Québec. However, four laboratories are already using this technology: Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu), SGS (Guelph), Eurofins EnvironeX (Montreal) and Omnia (Zambia).
What’s in it for me?
LaserAgTM Quantum allows you to get your results faster than with other methods. LaserAgTM Quantum is particularly effective in measuring soil organic carbon. The technology was awarded the “Quantify” prize by the Indigo Carbon Challenge in 2021 for being the most reliable for this type of measurement.
